Ebony & Ivory

This is the skeleton of the case, a thick base and divider, with a good sided hole for cables and other items shared by the two cabinets.

The top, front and back are in place. Each cabinet will have four fans, two in the front pulling in, two on the front blowing out. The rectangles are for CD/DVDs. The white and black plastic covering is the next step.

The door has been made for the ivory door. It was made from two pieces of 1/8" Plexiglass, and a layer of thin white plastic between (the same plastic that covers the wood). The window white plastic was cut before going between the pieces to give the apple-shaped window.

This is the inside of the PC compartment. Cabling still needs a little cleanup, the firewire card isn't in place yet, and the connectors to the KVM aren't connected yet. But, the layout looks good. IMHO.

This was taken with the lights off, and the interior lights turned on. The four fans have lights, and there are UV light bars on both sides the compartment.

This an unsuspecting PowerMac G4, 1 GHz. Little does it know it's about to become a serious organ donor

These are the guts from the PowerMac G4. Hard disk and CD-RW are fairly normal, but the power supply is different (main connector to the motherboard isn't a standard ATX connector). The motherboard may be a bit tricky--the heat sink is huge, and was attached to posts in the case, so I'll have to somehow simulate that.

This will be the satellite box that will sit on the desktop. It will have the Keyboard Video Monitor switch, as well as these two power buttons and LED. I also plan to get USB ports for each computer extended to here.

This is the final interior of the ebony side. It has an ASUS motherboard, 3.0 GHz Pentium 4, 1 GHz Pentium 4 processor, All-in-Wonder Radeon 9600 Pro video card. The optical drive is an Pioneer 8x DVD+-R/RW drive, on the shelf to the upper left. The hard drive is 160 GB. There are four fans, two in front that pull air into the cabinet and two on top that push it out. The case is lit with lights on fan and two blue cathode tubes. At the bottom of the case, in addition to the power supply, is a 10/100 Ethernet Switch and a NetDisk. This will give shared disk space available to both sides of the case.

This is the interior of the Satellite Case. The interior has the power lamps and power buttons of the two computers, and a Belken Omniview USB KVM with Audio. I had to lengthen the cord from the main unit and the unit with buttons and LEDs.

This is the Satellite Case. The Red light is the power light for the Ivory (Mac) side of the case, the button below is its power button. The Blue light is the power light for the Ebony (PC) side of the case, the button below is its power button. Between them are the two buttons to switch the KVM, and the ability to see the LEDs that indicate the active computer. The cable for the power lights/power buttons is about 4 feet long.
